Academia, to me, is primarily about curiosity and creativity. And yet sometimes, its machinery suffocates inspiration. I turn to music to regain perspective between papers.  

After the first year of my PhD, in 2020, I picked up my old guitar and started writing songs as I did in my teenage years, and Alis Mata was born. 

Over the years, this songwriting project has profoundly shaped the events of my life, offering a safe harbour for limitless creation and countless opportunities to meet incredible people across all Italy and beyond. This year, I am apparently performing at a conference, bringing my two worlds together... Stay tuned.
